Portfolio

Right now I'm working with BehaviorLab, Infiniti Medical and Virke (The Federation of Norwegian Enterprise), but here are some projects I've worked on in the past:

Getting outdoors should be easy! – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Norwegian Trekking Association

Getting outdoors should be easy!

UT.no and the UT app help people find hiking routes, cabins and destinations throughout Norway. The service brings together inspiration and practical trip planning on the web and mobile.

I have worked on UX/UI and the continued development of UT for several years, alongside the team at the Norwegian Trekking Association. The work involves understanding the needs of people heading outdoors, challenging established solutions and making the service easier to use.

He quickly gets to grips with problems and is willing to challenge concepts, assumptions and safe choices.Christian Strand, Head of Technology and Development, Norwegian Trekking Association

A collaboration where small details and bigger product questions receive equal attention – across the app and website.

Complex tools should be easy to use, too – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Vindr

Complex tools should be easy to use, too

Vindr develops renewable energy projects. Site Planner is a highly complex mapping tool used internally in project development.

I have worked on UX/UI and the continued development of Site Planner, and served as a mentor within the product team. Guidance and design discussions have been central to our work: asking questions, reviewing proposed solutions and discussing why one design choice works better than another.

What I appreciate most is how generously Axel shares his knowledge. He became an important UX/UI mentor to me, and I learned an enormous amount through our work together.Selma Louise Sandsdalen, then Product Lead and Communications Advisor at Vindr

Norway’s coolest packrafts! – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Kipara Packrafts

Norway’s coolest packrafts!

A packraft is a lightweight, inflatable boat that fits in a backpack. Kipara sells packrafts and outdoor equipment for people who want to explore nature from the water.

I have helped Kipara redesign its WooCommerce store and am responsible for its ongoing operation. The goal is to improve conversion by making the path from choosing a product to completing a purchase simpler.

I monitor the server, resolve technical issues and provide fast support whenever Kipara needs help.

Building materials with a twist – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Tørn

Building materials with a twist

Tørn is a new Norwegian platform designed to offer building materials that would otherwise remain unsold, at a significantly lower price. Are you aware that between 5 and 15 percent of the products in building material stores never find a buyer? This figure is not insignificant, especially considering that the construction sector in Norway has an annual turnover of around 50 billion kroner!

Axel has been an invaluable partner in building Tørn from a scrappy startup to a proper e-commerce site with well thought out solutions to difficult problems. Audun Kvasbø, CTO and founder of Tørn

At tørn.no, building material stores across the country have the opportunity to sell their surplus stock, contributing to a more sustainable and cost-effective construction industry.

Unique personalities – identical code – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Moodgruppen

Unique personalities – identical code

Moodgruppen consists of Mood Communication, Nettrafikk, Moodify and Smood Social – four agencies that together form a leading Norwegian hub for expertise in communications, CRO, SEO and social media.

The agencies have brand new websites that share the same code, where we have used theming to distinguish the companies from each other, as well as four completely unique photo series (photographer Kimm Saatvedt) and four different writing styles (copywriter Karl Eirik Haug).

Axel has delivered very well in this process and can be highly recommended. Nils Fredrik Sejersted, Agency Director at Moodgruppen

Cognita

A simpler everyday life – for everyone

Cognita provides innovative aids for people with cognitive impairment and communication difficulties.

Together with another designer from Dekode, I assisted Cognita with the design of a new interface for managing time and structure for people with cognitive impairment. The new interface was designed to blur the line between managing and viewing content, making everyday life easier for all users.

Axel has a unique way of getting to the core of the task and solving it. Definitely one of the best designers I've ever worked with.Hilde Falck-Andersen, CEO at Cognita AS

Join the treasure hunt! – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
SoBo Community

Join the treasure hunt!

SoBo Community is a Norwegian startup working to make secondhand and vintage fashion as attractive and available as regular shopping.

As a product owner and design lead, I helped SoBo through the transformation from a startup within clothes rental, to a tailored e-commerce solution in providing exclusive vintage fashion.

Axel grasped our concept and all details quickly, challenged our assumptions in constructive ways and came up with good ideas on how to improve our solution. Anjali Bhatnagar, CEO and founder of SoBo Community

Find answers to all the hard questions – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Arbeidsgiverguiden

Find answers to all the hard questions

Arbeidsgiverguiden is designed for managers who receive questions about everything from vacation days and overtime pay to dismissals and health, safety and environment, and often have to say "I'll get back to you". Virke, the Federation of Norwegian Enterprise, has made it easier for employers to find their way through the information and get answers.

Axel is a very nice, fast and skilled UX unicorn who designs with code – it doesn't get more efficient than that. Joakim Howlid, Head of Innovation, Products and Services at Virke, the Federation of Norwegian Enterprise

Together with the product team at Virke, I conduct regular user tests and work continuously to improve and further develop the service.

A training program for clearer leadership – Senior UX Designer in Oslo, Norway – Axel Ferdinand Giæver – Prototypen
Kløkt

A training program for clearer leadership

Kløkt is the training program that challenges traditional leadership development and elevates leadership training to new heights. With Emil Fabio on graphic design and illustration we have managed to launch a website I am really, really proud of - in less than 20 days of work!

It has been absolutely wonderful to work with Axel from the first meeting to the launch. Tommy Lund Andersen, Partner at Inovati

The result is an aesthetic challenger hand-coded in Statamic CMS, with a course overview and registration form offering Stripe payments and an invoice option.

During an extended collaboration with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, I designed the new system that question authors, examiners and test administrators use to create driving theory test questions for all licence categories. Part of the assignment also involved redesigning the interface candidates use when taking the theory test.
